Purchase & Sale

We attend all the major Northern & Southern Hemisphere auctions from foal to yearling to racehorse and then to broodmare or stallion. We also continually seek out and buy horses of all ages for private purchase, as well as selling horses privately on behalf of clients.

Over the years we have acted on behalf of many top organisations in the business including The Hong Kong Jockey Club,The Irish National Stud, Kilcarn Stud, Lucayan Stud, Lazy Lane Farms and legendary trainers such as Sir Henry Cecil, William Haggas and Gai Waterhouse.

Our clients are from across the world in USA, Hong Kong, Japan, Dubai, South America, South Africa, across Europe and numerous other countries. We frequently act in conjunction with overseas agents either buying on their behalf or using them to source horses for our clients.

Nominations

Advising clients on the right stallion to cover their mare with is a key part of our service. The team has seen the majority of stallions at stud in England and Ireland, the advantage is, having attended and looked at a very large number of their progeny at the yearling and foal sales we can get a very good idea of what mares would suit a particular stallion, also to consider which stallions are commercial in Europe and in America.

This advice is FREE, as the owners of all stallions normally pay a commission to the agent for booking a nomination if their mare gets in foal and then produces a live foal. We also have an extensive list of stallion shareholders, which does potentially give us access to stallions that are sometimes fully booked and to nominations that can sometimes be bought cheaper. Buying and selling stallion shares and breeding rights are also possible through McKeever Bloodstock. We would be delighted to assist you both to select a stallion for your mare and book a nomination.

Insurance & Valuations

McKeever Bloodstock can refer you to various reputable insurance agents for your comprehensive horse or stud farm insurance. It is important to insure your horses and we will try to make this as easy as we possibly can for you.

In the unfortunate event of an accident we would hope your claim was settled quickly and efficiently. McKeever Bloodstock can help to organise vets, postmortems and any other requirements to ease your burden during this time. McKeever Bloodstock strongly recommend that clients themselves ensure that they have insured their bloodstock from the moment of purchase. The responsibility for insuring your horse is entirely with yourself we can issue instructions on your behalf if required.

McKeever Bloodstock undertake valuations either for client’s annual appraisals, probate or to advise on a sale/purchase price. We can value horses on pedigree and race record (where applicable) plus an inspection if feasible. We normally charge £250.00 (excl. VAT) plus travelling expenses, with discounts for multiple valuations.

Management

McKeever Bloodstock advise clients on the management of their racing and broodmare stock from the point of buying to selling, in order to try and ensure the most success, enjoyment and commercial viability. MBL will advise on trainers, a racing program, stud farms, mare matings, insurance and the many other variables including liaising between everyone involved. MBL are interested in managing stallions, be they horses already at stud or from their very first season at stud. We can organize and arrange syndication of a stallion if required.
